Infrared

Light waves are composed of photons, little packets of energy that can travel through the void of space at the speed of… light! Visible light goes from the red to blue spectrum depending on its frequency and energy. But “invisible light” also exits, photons which we cannot see. Below the red spectrum we call these invisible light waves infrared, and above the blue, ultraviolet. Even lower that infrared we find microwaves and radio waves and in the high frequencies we find x-rays and gamma rays. All of these are part of the same family which we call the electromagnetic spectrum.
