Isostatic rebound

That which is related to the isostasy, being the relative equilibrium between different points on the earth’s crust which gives the Earth its form of a ball, lightly flattened at the poles. Adding extra weight at one point, such a 4 Km of ice, requires an equalizing reaction which results in the crust being pushed down. When the ice melts, this sunken crust will rise, or rebound.
