THREE guided treks are offered:

Trek I: "The Seashell Valley"

Circuit length:  3 hours

Clientele:  for excavation, discovery and learning enthusiasts.

Level of difficulty :  easy

To Explore the Seashell Valley is to go back 10,000 years!

Transport yourself back to a time after the glacier has melted and the area has largely been flooded by the Goldthwait Sea. Here you will discover the Seashell Valley, a place that is unique in the world. The exploration of the Seashell Valley   allows you to understand the fluctuation of sea levels that followed the melting of the glacier. The 6- km. electric shuttle trip follows alongside the English River in a natural setting. Once there, observe the phenomena associated with the Goldthwait Sea, some 12,000 years ago,  that submerged the whole area with 170 meters of water above the current sea level!

Discover the staggering beauty of a glacial delta and a seashell deposit that have remained intact. From 5 to 15 meters in height, the seashell deposit is 90% shellfish from 10,000 years ago, and it is located in the heart of the northern forest! Excavation and identification activities, by means of an interactive interpretation scenario, allow you to appreciate this unique phenomenon.

Trek II: "Peoples of the Ice Age"

Circuit length:  3 hours

Clientele:  for history, anthropology and culture lovers.

Level of difficulty:  easy

Travel across North America from west to east in the steps of the first inhabitants.

18,000 years ago, the first inhabitants migrated from Asia to North America in quest of food and new lands where animals would abound. An interactive experience of an unheard-of wealth, this exploration allows you to travel the migratory routes of the ancestors who populated North America.  You will feel as if you are reliving the climate changes that provoked their migration.  You will get to know the life habits of the Peoples of the Ice, as well as their dwellings, their history and their capacity to adapt to the New World. Thanks to skillful thematic reconstructions – camps, clothing, tools, etc. – you will relive the history of this important migration from 18,000 years ago to today.

The 5.5 km.- long trip is easy and can be carried out on board the electric shuttle over a distance of 2.9 km.

Trek III: "Traces of the glaciers"

Circuit length:  3 hours

Departure time: 12h30

Special conditions: 5 years and over

*available from July 16 to august 15*

You think you know the Saint Lawrence River? Think again!

While safely on board a boat, you will discover a whole new aspect of the mighty river.  For example, did you know that 12,000 years ago, the Saint Lawrence was an arctic sea, the powerful waves of which hit the glacier thus reducing it to icebergs? “Traces of the glaciers" will allow you to admire the massive work accomplished by the Laurentian ice cap, from one of the best points of view, the sea.  It was this massive glacier that sculpted and shaped the giant glacial flutings, the canyons, the moraines, the fjards and the bays.

You will also learn that many sea mammals (belugas, seals and Greenland sharks) adopted the Saint Lawrence River after their ancestors had crossed the arctic Goldthwait Sea, 12,000 years ago!
