THE GLACIER EXPLORATION CENTER

The Multimedia Show Trail

The Glacier Exploration Station is set up around a multimedia show  in 3 acts, composed of spectacular and unique projections and settings, as well as thematic zones that visitors are encouraged to stroll through freely.

Act 1

Amidst these 3D-inspired projections, we will fly over a glacier that has evolved and been shaped by the planet’s various climate changes. 20,000 years ago, the northern hemisphere was in large part covered by a thick layer of ice. Temperatures dropped to -76 degrees Celsius. This Ice Age in North America allowed for human settlement on the virgin land.

Act 2

An elevator takes us down into the middle of a glacier where water streams cut and groove the ice, thus shaping a series of tunnels and galleries called fluvio-glacial canals. Once under the glacier in this environment of immersive film and special sound effects, we witness the ice masse’s perpetual movement and activity, and understand the impact of its course over the North Shore while it melted 12,000 years ago.

Act 3

On a spectacular giant water screen we are the privileged to witness  the rise of sea levels from melting glaciers 8,000 years ago, as well as the formation of the Ancient Seas and today’s consequences on the environment and the Arctic marine life of the Saint Lawrence River (white whale, Greenland shark, blue whale, hump back whale, right whale).
