Unguided Thematic Zones

Alcove Hall

 
This zone offers four small islands made up of audioscape photo installations. The visitor-explorer travels, at his own pace, through an itinerary covering various topics: glacial and postglacial history of the Saint Lawrence River, its diversified coastline; its wildlife and its aquatic flora, set  on the themes of  people and sea, glaciers of the world and icebergs, and the formation of glaciers (Genesis).

Multimedia Experience and Research Room

 

A genuine interactive and multimedia tool, this computer room with 10 work stations is where school groups, as well as visitor-explorers, can further investigate subjects developed in Le Jardin des glaciers. This room is  specially set up with LCD screens on top of each work station and allows observers to follow each participant’s actions and navigation.

Multipurpose Cinema Room

 

The Multipurpose Cinema proposes, during regular operation, uninterrupted programming of short and feature-length films, documentaries, and press reports in the field of glaciers, climate changes, and observable phenomena coming from partnerships with various institutions, organizations and associations. For special occasions, this multipurpose room can change into conference and/or videoconference room with Internet and Intranet services. Its retractable walls allow it to be integrated with other rooms for  events with large crowds.

The Temporary Exhibition Room

 

With its general-purpose system, the temporary exhibition room offers various exhibits on  themes supported by Le Jardin des glaciers. This multipurpose room also provides  space for  traveling exhibits offered by institutions, organizations and associations, as well as various scientific, school and convention groups, etc…
